Should A Refrigerator Be On A Gfci
Should A Refrigerator Be On A Gfci. There are areas of the home that have water or have a lot of water. It has a big metal handle that people grab tightly to open.

If there is a difference, then the device. Gfci outlets help protect people from electric shock and electrocution. Jumping right into it, we talk about some usual reasons to why it takes place and how you can resolve it at home.
If There Is A Difference, Then The Device.
I think that the code only requires it if it is within 6feet of a laundry, utility or wetbar sink, or if it is located in a commerical kitchen. It is important that this type of outlet is used. It has to be close to the edge of the sink.

I just had a inspector tell me that my refrigerator had to be on a gfci because in was only 2 feet from the kitchen sink (this is a small duplex). A gfci outlet will trip when the refrigerator’s electrical insulation is worn out or has accumulated some moisture. These include the basement, the bathroom, and the kitchen.
Refrigerators And Freezers Should Not Depend On Gfci’s.
This protects against the circuit overheating and causing a fire, but doesn't protect against shocks to people in all conditions. For refrigerators/freezers in garages, i don't think gfci protection is needed if the outlet. The gfci can also trip if the inductive load switches off and creates electromagnetic interference.
When I Find An Ungrounded Receptacle At A Refrigerator, I Always Recommend An Electrician To Install Grounded Wiring.
A gfci device works by monitoring the current in a circuit and comparing it to the current that should be present. Regular circuit breakers trip when maximum current for the circuit is exceeded. Line is where it incoming branch circuit conductors go.
But The Nec’s Rules Do Not Apply To Receptacles That Operate Dishwashers.
If there is a short to the case, it can be deadly. So, yes, the outlet that supplies a refrigerator in the garage must be on a gfci. No, not if they are dedicated to the refrigerator.
